DESCRIPTION: \n\nRecent political developments cast doubt on the importance
  of\nglobalization and question the benefits associated with free trade an
 d\nopen markets. While academic research has documented welfare benefits\n
 from free trade\, some skeptics have recently argued that globalization\nh
 as gone too far\, causing dislocation of jobs\, amplifying inequality\,\na
 nd creating vulnerabilities in the global financial system. In\nresponse\,
  it is proposed that the fast pace of interdependence should\nbe reversed 
 to preserve employment\, improve national prosperity\, and\nstimulate dema
 nd through investing in local\, not global\, business\nopportunities. The 
 conference will focus on three aspects of the\ndebate of de-globalization:
  (a) free trade\, (b) investment flows\, and\n(c) global financial system 
 vulnerabilities. Consideration will be\nplaced on addressing challenges an
 d concerns\, but will also explore\nnew arising opportunities from globali
