Using the JMP Virtual Application

Before You Begin

Microsoft Remote Desktop Software

Verify the Microsoft Remote Desktop application has been installed. For Windows users, this is a standard part of the Windows operating system so you may skip this step. For MacOS users, follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the App Store from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your desktop.
  2. Using the text box in the upper right corner of the App Store, search for Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  3. Install the app if necessary.
    • If you already have the Microsoft Remote Desktop app installed, the word Open will appear under the app icon.
    • If you do not have the Microsoft Remote Desktop app installed, the word Install will appear under the app icon. Click Install to download and install the app.

JMP From Off-Campus

To use JMP from off-campus, you will first need to be connected to the Drexel VPN. If you have never connected to the Drexel VPN, please follow the instructions at to install the necessary software.

Connecting to the Drexel VPN
1. Open a web browser and browse to
2. When prompted, log in using your official Drexel username and password (it should be the same as your Drexel One information).
3. Once you are successfully logged in, click the Start AnyConnect link on the left side of the page.

Launching JMP

  1. Save the JMP 11 vApp file provide via email to your desktop or another location where you can easily find it in the future.
  2. Double-click on the JMP 11 vApp file. If you are prompted about trusting the JMP vApp server, simply agree.
  3. When prompted, log in with your official Drexel username and password. NOTE: For the Username field, be sure to enter your username in the following format - drexel\abc123.
  4. After a few seconds, JMP should launch and you are now ready to use the software.
    • If this is the first time you’ve run JMP, you will be asked to register. For now, you can simply click the Wait to Register button.

Saving/Opening files from the JMP vApp

When working with JMP files, you will need to select the drive labeled home on XXXXX from the left panel of the dialogue window. This home location is connected to your local machine. You can then browse to whatever folder you choose to house your JMP files.
