| Description: | Dick Thornburgh will discuss "Science and Technology and the Governing Process: A Focus on the Three 'Es' of Education, Energy and Economic Development." Mr. Thornburgh will discuss the importance of science and technology in sustaining America's leadership in the vital areas of education, energy and economic development. He will also share some of his own experiences in the governing process which illustrate the particular challenges we face in meeting these needs. Finally, Mr. Thornburgh will urge the presidential candidates to commit themselves to specific goals in each of these areas so that he U.S. can continue to grow and prosper in an increasingly competitive world. Dick Thornburgh served as Governor of Pennsylvania, Attorney General of the United States under Presidents Reagan and George H. W. Bush and Under-Secretary General of the United Nations during a public career which spanned over 25 years. He is currently counsel to the international law firm of K&L Gates LLP, resident in its Washington, D.C. office. Networking reception to follow. |
