I love the variety! I find it so exciting that in one night I can go to a student-run carnival in Drexel Park, watch boat races by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and see a musical starring Co-op Theater students. I love trying new things and learning from people who are different from me; both Drexel and its surroundings provide me with plenty of opportunity to do so.

What do you like best about Drexel/Philly:
There are so many opportunities here that would be hard to find anywhere else. Drexel is extremely diverse and the people here have become my second family making Drexel my home away from home. I love how diverse the city is and how each part of Philly is unique and there is always something to do. Even though there are limitless things to do on- and off-campus, students remain ambitious and work hard to get the personal and professional opportunities they want. Being surrounded by such people makes me even more ambitious and I cant wait to see the path I will follow during my next few years here.

The sense of community on campus. Everyone looks out for and supports one another in all of their goals, failures, and successes. The best thing that I enjoy about Philadelphia is how close it is to everything on the east coast. One can go North or South and you have another city at your fingertips.
Favorite Band/Song: There is no way I could ever choose a Band or Song. I enjoy everything from classical music, indie pop, punk rock and everything in between!

  • Joseph Cuce

What do you like best about Drexel/Philly:
I love how close Drexel is to everything else in the city. One of my favorite things to do is taking the Broad Street Line (train) to Phillies and Flyers games. It's one of the best ways to unwind with your friends after class. Additionally, there are plenty of places to shop and great restaurants around Rittenhouse Square. I enjoy running and walking on the Schuylkill River Trail, which is a refreshing change of scenery from the buildings on and around campus. If you take full advantage of the location, it's really hard to be bored!

I'm also a huge fan of all the bookstores throughout the city. I really love reading, so walking through a really old store with stacks of books is really awesome. Besides reading, I also collect vinyl, so there's a few unique record shops on South Street that I've found. A lot of my cousins live in Philly too, so I always get to eat great food with my family!

There are unlimited benefits to going to school in a large city. There are unlimited resources, people, experiences, and fun. There's always different places to explore and see. The learning communities have been one of the most influential experiences for me here at Drexel. Not only do you get the chance to make great lasting friendships but you also get the full Drexel experience of experiential learning through site visits, workshops and access to valuable resources. The faculty, staff and advisors, I feel, really care for my personal growth and development. What’s even better with being at Drexel is being in Philly where you can be jogging along the Schuylkill in the morning, reward yourself by munching down a slice of pepperoni pizza at Joe’s for lunch and laze around the ‘Rocky’ steps at the Philadelphia Art Museum in the afternoon!
Favorite Band/Song: Sura Yako by Sauti Sol (Kenyan band)

People here including students, staffs, and professors are very helpful and care about others. The schedule in Drexel is very tight and every day is fast-paced, but I don't feel stressed because everyone understands. It is also such a diversified community here at Drexel that I am able to meet a lot of different people with different thoughts. As an international student, I feel that although there are cultural gaps between international students and local students, everyone has an open-mind to embrace other cultures. I am learning the American culture and American students are learning Asian cultures. Life in Philadelphia is actually more relaxed. There are tons of restaurants including all kinds of food from around the world. Taking a slow walk on the street, having some good food and visiting some historical places during the weekends are definitely enjoyable things to do.

What do you like best about Drexel/Philly:
The opportunities and the people on campus. I am someone who always love to do something and Drexel has an atmosphere that never stops moving. The people here are truly inspiring and highly motivated. I enjoy working on projects that I am passionate about and Drexel has given me the opportunity to experience such moments. I am involved with the Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA) and on the Women's Ultimate Team. Both organizations have allowed me to broaden my horizon and keep an open-mind. Philly is the perfect city for Drexel because in my own opinion, people always expect NYC to be the city of opportunities. Yet the underdog vibe of Philly hides the millions of possibilities waiting just around the corner :)

The city has so many places to discover and explore! I'm extremely honored to call this place my second home. What do you like best about Drexel/Philly:
Drexel provides a unique experience for college students, especially with its location within University City where there are endless opportunities for fun as well as personal growth. I like to think of Drexel as a place that nurtures "yuppies" (AKA young urban professionals) and prepares us for the real world. While I love to explore the endless restaurants within Philadelphia, I also love cafes. My favorite spot is the Happily Ever After Cafe on 2nd Street where it features a spot for froyo, macaroons, coffee, and so much more!

I have lived in a city my whole life and Drexel being located in Philly allows me to have a similar lifestyle as the one I had back at home. Philly is in a great area that allows me to explore, and puts me in a great place to be for when different friends come and visit. It's also the right amount of city where the stress isn't overwhelming and where people seem a lot nicer than in other cities. What I like the most about Drexel is the opportunities that I am offered to be involved in the community at large and to make a positive change. Apart from this, I love the fact that I can study and specialize in my area of study with the co-op program.
