For the graduating seniors who will walk down the aisle this Saturday, Commencement is the culmination and celebration of four to five years of hard work and dedication and the beginning of the next chapter of their lives. They’ve worked hard and earned the accolades they will receive from friends and family. To mark the occasion, the Class of 2013 will present the first ever class gift to the College as a big thank you and a remembrance of this year’s graduating class.

There will be no more head scratching or wondering if LeBow’s concentrations are the same as majors found in other institutions. Effective immediately, LeBow College of Business has transitioned from using the term "concentrations” to “majors.”

Eleven undergraduate students who participated in ANGA Collegiate Energy Challenge during fall term claimed first prize. Utilizing a budget of $3,000, the students developed and implemented a campaign promoting natural gas to the Drexel community. Divided into teams for research, marketing and strategy implementation, the class worked as a unified agency and coined the slogan “Pennsylvania Natural Gas: Fuel Today. Sustain Tomorrow.” The class traveled to Washington, D.C. in December to present its plan to judges.

The past year was one of both change and continuity for Drexel LeBow. The biggest change occurred in the dean’s office, with George P. Tsetsekos, Ph.D., stepping down after 10 years at the helm. Our former dean remains with us as the George B. Francis Professor of Finance and the trajectory he established for LeBow College of Business continues to be realized through the achievements of 2012. Here are just a few highlights.

Drexel LeBow’s Business Learning Community (BLC), an exceptional group of 37 freshmen devoted to both leadership development and social responsibility, has more than a respite after finals to be thankful for this holiday season.

Drexel University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has won its bid to host the PRSSA National Conference at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia in October 2013. Melissa Clawson, the PRSSA member who is serving as the 2012 national conference coordinator, says the group expects more than 1,000 attendees.
