For the second year in a row, Drexel LeBow’s Build Relationships in Diverse Group Experiences (BRIDGE) has been recognized by INSIGHT into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. BRIDGE received the 2024 Inspiring Programs in Business Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, which honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the field of business. LeBow College will be featured, along with 27 other recipients, in the April 2024 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

2024 Inspiring Programs in Business Award winners were selected by INSIGHT Into Diversity based on efforts to inspire and encourage a new generation of young people to consider careers in business through mentoring, teaching, research, and successful programs and initiatives.

“Aligning with social science research on the importance of belonging in students’ success, especially in the success of students whose identities are underrepresented in a particular environment, BRIDGE enhances the student experience and fosters a sense of belonging, engagement and empowerment,” said Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leslie Ashburn-Nardo. “Developed on four pillars (academic excellence, community activism, social engagement and financial literacy), BRIDGE not only serves as an exemplary student support model for underrepresented populations but as a template for an effective learning community in higher education.”

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine selected BRIDGE because of its efforts to ensure student success. Since its establishment in 2012, the program has supported the underrepresented student population at Drexel LeBow and has positively impacted the college experience of more than 300 students from diverse backgrounds. Retention and graduation rates continue to exceed national and University standards, while student engagement levels and academic standing for BRIDGE scholars highlight some of the program’s successes.

“We know that many business programs are not always recognized for their success, dedication and mentorship for underrepresented students,” says Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. “We want to honor the schools and organizations that have created programs that inspire and encourage young people who may currently be in or are interested in a future career in business. We are proud to honor these programs as role models to other institutions of higher education and beyond.”
