Student Engagement at the Center for Applied AI and Business Analytics

The Center for Applied AI and Business Analytics facilitates opportunities for companies to engage with Drexel LeBow undergraduate and graduate business analytics students. Programming enables practitioners to share industry knowledge and gain new perspectives, while students benefit from acquiring new skills and an understanding of the application of AI and analytics across industries.

Data-Driven Student Projects

The Center partners with companies such as Exelon, The Dow Chemical Company, American Century Investments and Anthropologie on data-driven project engagements. Led by faculty, teams of students derive business insights from company data through analysis and interpretation — using techniques such as predictive modeling, machine learning, speech analytics, visualization and natural language processing. Projects draw on both quantitative and qualitative skills: data management, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, business application and data storytelling.

Analytics Competitions

The Center delivers annual datathons for Drexel LeBow students: one-day competitions that task teams with using data and analytics techniques to derive business insights for a partner company. Competitions are offered through the partnership of companies such as Southwest Airlines, Comcast, Under Armour, Caesars Entertainment and The Chemours Company.

Applied AI Workshops

The Center’s semiannual workshops introduce students to AI tools, concepts and techniques and their applications to the future workplace. Co-instructed by Drexel LeBow faculty and industry practitioners, workshops provide students with fundamental principles and hands-on, problem-solving experiences that allow them to connect AI with business value across varying applications and contexts.
