Dr. Kristen Miller

Kristen Miller, DrPH, CPPS is the Scientific Director of the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare at MedStar Health and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Kristen is a clinically oriented human factors researcher focusing on medical decision making and behavior, informatics, and the assessment of medical interventions and practices with an emphasis on usability, human error, and patient safety. Her portfolio includes federally funded work from the National Institutes of Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, and National Science Foundation. Her experience spans three public health degrees (Master of Science in Public Health and Doctorate of Public Health from Texas A&M University and Bachelor of Arts in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University), a post-doctorate with the Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for Patient Safety, and experience with multiple healthcare systems including the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute and the Christiana Care Health System Value Institute. She has dedicated her career to healthcare human factors, focusing on occupational challenges for healthcare providers and novel approaches to improving patient safety and quality.
