There has never been a better time for women to work in the sport industry. Major sport leagues and franchises are hiring women in executive positions in ways they have rarely done. And the roles women play within sport organizations continue to expand. And yet, for all of the progress, there remain fundamental questions about how women are treated in the sport workplace. Illustrative of this, on International Women’s Day in March of 2019, the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation alleging that as athletes and women they were subjected to unfair treatment in the workplace and were compensated less because they were women. In this webinar, we will look at the status of women in the sport industry, significant breakthrough moments and ongoing concerns about sex discrimination and pay equity.
