College athletics have been turned upside down with the closing of higher education across the nation and the cancellation of events such as the NCAA basketball tournament. Athletics programs face unique challenges in dealing with athlete eligibility and recruiting, but also face the same financial challenges as their parent institutions. The uncertainty of the future means that simply picking up where we left off is not an option, so how do athletic programs move forward?

Dr. Karen Weaver, associate clinical professor of sports management, will discuss how athletics programs can think outside the box to re-establish themselves and once again thrive as a cornerstone of their institutions. Joining her will be Dr. Scott Flanagan, Senior Consultant at Academic Search, and former president of Edgewood College.

Dr. Weaver’s work includes her recent article in Forbes, “What Will it Take to Bring College Athletics Back?” She also hosts her own weekly podcast, Trustees and Presidents - Opportunities and Challenges In Intercollegiate Athletics.
