Barbara L. Bungy, MBA, MPH, MCHES® has over 16 years’ experience as an innovative leader in the non- profit healthcare sector, specifically in the areas of operations, revenue cycle management, grants management, business development and strategic partnerships. She has worked with several well- known and highly reputable local organizations including Education Plus Health (Deputy Director), Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers (Chief Operating Officer) and Drexel University College of Medicine at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children (Director of Grant Funded Programs within the Dorothy Mann Center for Pediatric & Adolescent HIV).

In addition to her passion for health equity, she is equally passionate about financial literacy and economic empowerment. In 2023, Barbara pivoted her career to join the Internal Revenue Service as a Taxpayer Advisor within the Wage and Investment Division. In this role, her focus is to help taxpayers understand complex tax law issues, provide technical tax law advice on newly enacted legislation, and promote voluntary compliance.

Ms. Bungy is an alumnus from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business where she earned an Executive MBA (2015) and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society. She also received an Executive MPH from Drexel’s Dornsife School of Public Health (2007) and was inducted into Hygeia National Honor Society. In 2015, the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. certified her as a Master Health Education Specialist (MCHES®).

In her second term, Ms. Bungy is the Vice President of the Board of Commissioners at the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC), Inc. NCHEC (Whitehall, PA) is a professional health education credentialing body that works to define, certify, and promote the role of public health educators as a national standard. Barbara also serves as the Board Chair on the Camden County (NJ) Mental Health Board which is a twelve-member public county advisory group responsible for the oversight of mental health services including recommendations of mental health funding appropriations to the County Board of Freeholders and the State Division of Mental Health & Addiction Services. In November 2020, Ms. Bungy joined the Board of Directors of Prevention Point Philadelphia, a nonprofit public health organization that provides harm reduction services and promotes health, empowerment, and safety for communities affected by drug use and poverty.
