How to Electronically Capture Your Signature

There are a number of ways to electronically capture your signature. Choose the method below that best suits your needs.

Using a Copier

  1. Sign a blank sheet of copy paper.
  2. Use the copier in your department to scan the page. Make sure you set the file type to JPG.
  3. Save the file to a location where it will be easily accessible.
  4. Using an app of your choosing, crop the scanned image to remove excess white space.

Using a Cell Phone

  1. Sign a blank sheet of copy paper.
  2. Using the camera app on your phone, take a picture of the signature.
    • It is recommended that you use the zoom functionality to minimize unnecessary white space.
  3. Email the photo to yourself.
  4. Save the file to a location where it will be easily accessible.

Using Adobe Acrobat Mobile

Before you can use this method, you will need to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader app on your phone. NOTE: Signatures captured using this method can only be used within Adobe products.

Before You Begin

Using Adobe Acrobat Mobile to capture your signature requires that you have an active Adobe ID. If you know you already have an active Adobe ID, you can skip ahead to the next section. If not, follow the directions below to verify you have an account.

  1. Browse to https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/create-update-adobe-id.html.
  2. Select Sign In in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Enter your Drexel email address in the Email address field (abc123@drexel.edu) and select Continue.
  4. Select Company or School Account.
    • If you do not see this option, your Drexel account may not be active. Please contact lcbtech@drexel.edu for assistance.
  5. Sign in to Drexel Connect when prompted.

If you are able to sign in, you have an active Adobe ID and can proceed.

Capturing a Signature

  1. Launch the Adobe Acrobat Reader app on your phone.
  2. Select Sign in with Adobe.
  3. Enter your Drexel email address (abc123@drexel.edu) and select Continue.
  4. Select Company or School Account.
  5. Sign in to Drexel Connect when prompted.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Open a PDF.
  8. Tap the blue pencil icon in the bottom right corner.
  9. Select Fill & Sign.
  10. Select the fountain pen icon at the bottom on the far right.
  11. Select Create Signature.
  12. Select Camera.
  13. Use the round arrow and the blue corners to properly orient your signature and crop out any unnecessary white space.
  14. Select Done.
  15. Select Done again.
