Drexel LeBow’s Build Relationships in Diverse Group Experiences (BRIDGE) has received the 2023 Inspiring Programs in Business Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in Business Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the field of business. LeBow College will be featured, along with 21 other recipients, in the April 2023 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

Inspiring Programs in Business Award winners were selected by INSIGHT Into Diversity based on efforts to inspire and encourage a new generation of young people to consider careers in business through mentoring, teaching, research, and successful programs and initiatives.

“Consistent with its mission of academic excellence, BRIDGE has had measurable positive impact on LeBow students’ academic success. For the last two academic years, BRIDGE students’ average cumulative GPA was 11% higher than that of non-BRIDGE students,” said Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leslie Ashburn-Nardo. “Given the program’s success in recruiting, retaining and graduating students from historically marginalized groups, as well as the University’s strategic imperative to foster and strengthen an inclusive and equity-driven culture, BRIDGE has become a model for others at Drexel University.”

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine selected BRIDGE because of its efforts to ensure student success at Drexel University, LeBow College and beyond. During its eleven years, the program has supported the underrepresented student population at Drexel LeBow, enhancing their experience and fostering a sense of belonging, engagement and empowerment. The program has positively impacted the college experience of more than 300 students from diverse backgrounds. Retention and graduation rates continue to exceed national and University standards, while student engagement levels and academic standing for BRIDGE scholars highlight some of the program’s successes.

“We know that many business programs are not always recognized for their success, dedication, and mentorship for underrepresented students,” says Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. “We want to honor the schools and organizations that have created programs that inspire and encourage young people who may currently be in or are interested in a future career in business. We are proud to honor these programs as role models to other institutions of higher education and beyond.”
