April Walker

April Walker is the Director of the Philadelphia Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) located in Malvern, Pennsylvania. A member of the North American MTC leadership team, April oversees Microsoft’s state-of-the-art innovation center that enables the digital transformation for enterprise customers throughout the greater Philadelphia area. The center provides strategic and technical guidance for various business leaders representing industry sectors in manufacturing, health and life sciences, financial services, pharmaceutical, media and cable, education, sports, and retail. In this role, April leads a senior-level team of Technology Architects that are experts in the areas of Azure Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science and Analytics, Cybersecurity and numerous emerging technologies that are transforming the world we live in today.

A career spanning more than 30 years, April has held leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. She has been the catalyst for driving change, direction, and developing enterprise-wide and global strategies for digital transformation and innovation for many Fortune 500 companies. A well-regarded professional in the technology arena, April has held executive-level positions most notably in media, (NBCUniversal), Internet (AOL/Time Warner), financial services (Lehman Brothers), and public utilities (Washington Gas Light). Prior to joining Microsoft in 2018, she served as Vice President of Global Distributed Engineering in Raleigh NC for MetLife, the largest insurance company in the country.

April earned her MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT and an Executive Certification in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the same school. She also possesses an M.S. in Engineering Management from George Washington University and a B.S. in Global Business from the University of Maryland. April has received numerous awards for being a champion, evangelist, and leader in technology, and she’s been featured in Essence Magazine and other publications as a women-of-color whose career has advanced in the world of STEM. To that end, April is a staunch advocate for encouraging women and young girls to explore STEM careers and is a member of numerous organizations that support that effort.
