Can we propose adding to the technology?
No. The classroom technology has been determined and purchased. No changes are possible at this point.

Are we required to create assignments or only define an overall change to how a course would be taught?
Proposals are more likely to be successful if they include specific student assignments that leverage the technology and room configurations.
-
What is in the middle of the desks in the cluster classroom?
All desks in cluster and case classrooms will have electrical outlets. No publicly accessible ethernet is bein gprovided at any student station. The podiums will have power and ethernet for a presenter laptop.
-
The guidelines reference "cost of implementation." To what does that refer? Is there a specified dollar amount?
It is quite possible that some proposals will have zero implementation costs. Others might specify spending for new computer applications or additional required readings, as two examples. There is no designated dollar amount.
-
Is there a list of professors we may contact who are willing to help with this project?
Any full-time professor can participate on one or more teams.
-
Can you have more than one student on a team, or is it limited to only one?
Each team must have only one student and two full-time professors.

Is there a specific area of learning which is important, or just learning as a broad idea? When it says "likelihood of meeting objectives," which objectives are being referred to?
This refers to the objectives you identify as part of your proposed course enhancements. You can identify a specific area of learning or learning more broadly.

What does "classes covered" mean? Are certain classes given more weight?
“Classes covered” refers to the classes for which you propose enhancements. All classes have the same value.
-
Will podiums be replicas of the one currently in Pearl 102?
Yes, but not an exact replica. The keyboard tray will be larger to provide more space to use a mouse. We are looking into mounting the monitor on an adjustable arm, so professors can bring the screen closer to them. There also will be an HDMI laptop input in addition to just VGA.
-
What are the capabilities of the lecture-capture technology?
The classes are being captured with a Polycom HDX series video conference codec and recorded with a Polycom RSS 4000. The output are industry standard MPEG-4 video files using the H.254 video codec.
