Philadelphia native, Baber Ghauri completed his training at Drexel University College of Medicine at Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital and Hahnemann University Hospital where he was also invited to serve an additional year as a Chief Resident. After completing his Master’s in Business Administration, he joined the Department of Medicine Faculty at Drexel affiliate, Abington Memorial Hospital where he was a dedicated physician educator in a new Hospital Medicine practice that quickly became the busiest service in the hospital. During this tenure, he served as both Medical Director of Simulation Medicine and Patient Safety Officer with other interests in Medical Education, Patient Safety, Research, Decision Sciences, and technology.
These diverse experiences led him to became the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA, a member of the Trinity Health System where he also serves as East Division CMIO. Different from his previous academic path, he is continually challenged by the tasks of transformation at the practice, hospital, and health system levels and has been able to achieve a number of significant goals including the launch of CPOE, Patient/Provider Portals, HIE, electronic physician documentation, ICD10 compliance, and presently implementing Cerner Millennium across his 94-hospital health system. His need to transform continues as he has shifted his practice to a philosophy based in Integrative Holistic Medicine in which he is also board-certified.
Dr. Ghauri holds academic appointments with Drexel University College of Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University School of Population Health, the Society of Hospital Medicine, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and the American College of Physicians. Baber has a great passion for all of these activities that also extends into his multiple entrepreneurial endeavors. He is currently working on a new and innovative service that allows physicians and other professionals to share data and communicate more effectively in their personal and business practices. He is forever a student of the science and art of business and enjoys serving in advisory roles to a diverse set of businesses and organizations through formally compensated work and his volunteerism. Despite all his achievements, he will always be most proud of being a father, a husband, friend, and a dedicated member of his large family.
