Joan Kuehl

Joan Kuehl currently serves as EVP and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Elevate Credit, a technology-driven provider of credit solutions. She develops and operates all aspects of technology for online lending products, fueling 14% annual growth. In conjunction with the Board Risk Committee, she establishes and oversees the company’s cyber security and technology risk management programs.

Prior to Elevate, as SVP and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Travelers Insurance, Joan launched the technology that enabled the company’s competitive digital presence including web, mobile and social channels for all lines of business. Previously, she was SVP of Consumer Banking Digital Technology and SVP of Commercial Banking Channel Technology at the Bank of America. In these roles, she established web and mobile platforms that ultimately outpaced the bank’s brick & mortal locations, providing 85% of all service transactions to 37 million active customers.

Earlier, in progressive roles at Sabre, Joan led the delivery of large-scale technology solutions that were instrumental in the growth and success of Sabre as a global provider of travel technology in positions including SVP of Product Development, Chief of Staff to the CEO and VP of Large Program Delivery.

Joan’s Board experience includes serving on the Nominating Committee of the American Airlines Federal Credit Union and the Audit Committee of Hands on Hartford. She is currently the Board President of Empowering Women as Leaders. Joan hold a BS in Computer Science from West Virginia University. She completed executive leadership training in Finance for Non-Financial Executives at the University of Chicago, Executive Negotiations at Harvard Business School and Driving Change in Technology Organizations at MIT. Joan received the CERT Certification in Cyber Security Oversight from Carnegie Mellon University through the National Associate of Corporate Directors (NACD).
