Professor Cohen joined Drexel Sport Management faculty in 2014, following a twenty-five year career as an executive in the sports industry, bringing with him considerable practitioner experience to the classroom. He also previously served the program as an adjunct professor. Professor Cohen is an expert on the legal aspects of sport, promotions, sponsorships, sales, and operations. Professor Cohen worked in management and supervisory capacities for three professional sports teams: the Anaheim Angels, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and the Philadelphia 76ers. His responsibilities included overseeing ticket sales, sponsorship and broadcasting, public relations, community relations, and game day operations. He has also held management positions at the two leading private managers of public assembly facilities – SMG and Global-Spectrum – as well as tickets.com. Professor Cohen is the founder and president of Beyond the Arc Sports, a sports sales and marketing consulting firm, with an emphasis on ticket sales and sponsorships. At Drexel, Professor Cohen teaches courses in sponsorship, ticket sales, event and facility management, and numerous law and legal issues classes. He is recognized by his students as an excellent and inspiring teacher. He oversees students’ practicum experiences, and is the faculty liaison to the sport management advisory board. Professor Cohen remains an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
