MARK KERSCHNER is a sophisticated multicultural leader who ultimately solves an organization’s Rubik’s Cube puzzle through penetrating analysis and an innate ability to incorporate diverse perspectives on an issue. He asks insightful questions and engages others in working together to identify root causes and achieve positive outcomes. Kerschner not only helps others deal with the “elephant in the room” but also facilitates understanding of difficult concepts and generates excitement about pursuing solutions. Known as an independent, intellectually honest, curious thinker, Kerschner is above all a passionate builder of businesses and developer of people. Most recently, Kerschner was the CFO of the $1 billion Electronic Warfare Unit of Exelis Corporation where he was recruited to turnaround and stabilize the Finance function. As the division’s sixth CFO in 4 years, he brought continuity, business focus and organizational discipline to the financial and program functions. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan, established a risk management approach at the individual program level and drove performance excellence throughout the organization’s operations.

Previously, Kerschner served as EVP & CFO of CDI Corporation, a $1 billion provider of engineering and information technology outsourcing solutions where he elevated the company from “Material Control Weakness” to a Forbes.com “Most Trusted Company”. Under his leadership, the company significantly improved its financial performance particularly in the areas of return on net assets and operating margins. In partnership with the CEO, Kerschner improved the sell-side analyst coverage and increased buy-side interest in the company. He also brought expertise to the company’s aggressive M&A activities.

Earlier, he held financial leadership roles including CFO, Treasurer, Controller and Director of Internal Audit during his career with Schering-Plough, Elemica, BASF Group, and ITT Corporation. At BASF and ITT, he served for seven years in internationally-based assignments in Germany, England and Holland. He began his career in auditing with Price Waterhouse & Co.

Kerschner received a BS in Accounting from Lehigh University and completed the Executive Finance Program at Stanford University. He is a CPA, has received the designation of NACD Board Leadership Fellow, is DOD Secret Clearance eligible and has a working knowledge of German. Kerschner serves on the Strategic Planning, Audit and Finance Committees of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
