Meg Shope Koppel, Ph.D., Chief Research Officer at Philadelphia Works, the Philadelphia workforce development board, has over 30 years of experience in performance data management, policy research, and economic analysis. She leads the Research, Policy & Innovation unit that provides technical expertise and reporting across multiple data systems to meet performance requirements and for organizational use in developing “best in class” workforce solutions. She works on implementing pilot practices by collaborating in partnerships across government, employers, educational providers, and community agencies. Under her leadership, Philadelphia Works analyzes and consolidates multiple sources of information to develop tactical responses strategically aligned with the City’s workforce and economic development strategies. Before joining the workforce development board, Dr. Shope Koppel consulted in economic analysis and economic development, taught and worked at university research centers and for econometric consulting firms. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University, has a Masters in Economics from Johns Hopkins and a Doctorate in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvania.
