Rich Clark

Rich leads the engineering at 7X Energy which supports the development and construction of the company’s growing solar project pipeline and operating projects. 7X Energy was ranked the number one Solar Developer and the number one Commercial Solar Contractor in 2019 by Solar Power World. Prior to joining 7X, Rich worked at SunPower as the Development Engineering Manager for Utility Power Plants covering North and South America. There, Rich worked on numerous power plant projects in the early development phase totaling over 3 GW of capacity. He also led the development engineering and preliminary design on seven UPP projects totaling over 450 MW in the U.S. and Latin America. During development, Rich led the engineering deliverables for financing, estimating, site audits, geotechnical and pile load testing reports, topography, hydrology, land surveys, land use permits, construction permits, performance simulations, and interconnection agreements.

Before SunPower, Rich was a Project Engineer at NRG Energy working on development for solar distributed generation and utility solar power plants. Prior to NRG, Rich was with ExxonMobil for 9 years in the Project Management group, where he worked on domestic and international capital projects in numerous capacities including cost estimating, development, engineering, and construction management.

Rich graduated from Drexel University with an MBA in 2009 and from University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2003. He is also a licensed PE in New Jersey. When not working, Rich enjoys spending time outdoors biking, running, stand up paddle boarding, and finding ways to keep Austin weird.
