Richard Zhang

Richard/Yang Zhang is the founder and president of Ocean 24 Sports & Entertainment Corporation. He holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Ithaca Collage, plus dual Bachelors Degrees in English and HR Management from Shandong University, in Jinan, China.

He spent two seasons with the New Jersey Nets after graduate school, where he received first hand experience in professional sports by working in the corporate partnership department. In 2014 he started his own company Ocean 24 Sports & Entertainment, and has been serving as the “bridge” between Chinese based companies and professional sports leagues and teams in North America ever since.

Ocean 24 is a fast-growing professional sports and entertainment marketing agency, dedicated to providing a full range of sports and entertainment related services including: event organizing and sponsorship, marketing, media relations, brand building, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Ocean 24 currently represents 80% of the Chinese companies and sponsors in the NBA as well as several professional athletes in both the NBA and the CBA (the Chinese Basketball Association). In 2016, Ocean 24 brought the first ever Chinese partner to the National Hockey League’s Boston Bruins (which is also the first Chinese partner in the NHL’s 100 year history). Later, the partnership was expanded to include the Washington Capitals and the LA Kings. In November 2016, Ocean 24 SE and its client reached a monumental partnership deal with the NHL and became league’s founding partners in China. The NHL and Ocean 24 and its client are planning the first ever China Games series in the fall of 2017, this will help grow and promote the sport of hockey in China, help grow the NHL Brand, and will promote sports and culture exchanges between the two countries.
