Healthcare Speaker Series: Steve Carchedi, CEO, Apexian Pharmaceuticals

Steve Carchedi will speak to students on the impact of current health policy on pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, the differences between the biotech industry and the traditional pharmaceutical industry, and give advice on a career path in healthcare.

Mr. Carchedi is currently Chief Executive Officer and board member of Apexian Pharmaceuticalss, a privately held clinical stage Oncology Company focused in cancer. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Cornerstone Pharmaceuticals, a privately held clinical stage Oncology Company focused in cancer metabolism. He also serves on Cornerstone’s Board of Directors. Mr. Carchedi was previously President, Commercial Operation North America for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, the Pharmaceutical business of Covidien Plc. Mallinckrodt is a $2.0 Billion business focused on the development and commercialization of five business units including: Specialty Pharmaceuticals, Generics, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Medical Diagnostic and Radiopharmaceutical Agents.

Among his many career honors, Mr. Carchedi has received numerous leadership awards and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Cornerstone Pharmaceuticals, Sunesis Pharmaceuticals, BioNumerick Pharmaceuticals and PCAsso Diagnostics LLC. He also previously served as the Co-Chair of the BioNJ Personalized Medicine & Diagnostics Committee. He is a member of the Chief Marketing Officer Council (CMOC), the Ontario Institute Of Cancer Research Commercial Committee (OICR) and on the Pharmaceutical Industry Board of the American Pediatric Family Foundation. Originally from Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, he began his career at IMS America, the leading pharmaceutical market research company.

Mr. Carchedi received a B.S. in Marketing from West Chester University and an MBA in Marketing from Drexel University.
