Are online discussions leaving you uninspired? Are your students getting tired of the standard “post once, comment twice” discussion format? Do weekly discussion forums feel more like a collection of short essays than authentic dialogue?

Rather than doing away with online discussions entirely, faculty at LeBow are reimagining their discussion activities with Yellowdig. Yellowdig is an online discussion tool that encourages community-building within courses. Unlike a traditional discussion board, Yellowdig uses the layout and conventions of a social media platform — creating a familiar and fun experience for students. As they post about course topics and comment on their peers’ responses, students automatically earn points, which instantly feed back into Blackboard. This encourages engagement for learners and simplifies grading for instructors.

On Thursday, Nov. 17, join the LeBow InTech team for an informational session on Yellowdig. Hear from faculty who currently use Yellowdig discussions and get tips and inspiration on how Yellowdig could be integrated into your next course.

This virtual event will be held on Zoom and is open to Drexel faculty, teaching PhD candidates and teaching staff. A recording link will be sent to all who register, including those who are unable to attend the event live.

Please register for this event no later than Wednesday, Nov. 16. We hope to see you there!
