Nonprofit Directors Dialogue

Nonprofit Directors Dialogue is an invitation-only event designed to promote candid, peer-to-peer discussions about pressing governance issues in a small, exclusive setting. This signature event reflects the Gupta Governance Institute’s ongoing commitment to convening leaders, curating insights and creating content that drives excellence in corporate and nonprofit governance. This interactive experience is facilitated by nonprofit governance experts and thought leaders. Attendance is limited to 40 nonprofit executives and board members.

The 2026 theme, “(Re)invention and Intrapreneurship,“ recognizes that nonprofits are facing unprecedented pressures, including funding uncertainty, policy shifts, workforce challenges, technological advances, increased demands for services and heightened expectations for accountability. Rather than focusing on traditional conference topics, this dialogue will explore what nonprofit boards and executives must do when an organization’s operating model, talent strategy, partnerships and even understanding of mission may need to evolve.

Discussion topics:

  • (RE)BEL: Mission Creep or Mission Leap?
When does protecting the mission require breaking with the past?

  • (RE)THINK: The Business We Shouldn’t Be In
What should nonprofits stop doing, give away, combine – or revinvent entirely?

  • (RE)WIRE: The Talent You Don’t Have Yet
Is your organization designed for the people, skills and ways of working its future mission will require?

Hosted at The Franklin Institute, the event will bring together a carefully curated group of nonprofit leaders for a confidential, expertly facilitated exchange conducted under the Chatham House Rule. The intentionally intimate format creates space for candid discussion, peer learning and the exploration of complex governance challenges that do not have clear-cut answers or established best practices.
