Kristine Mulhorn

Kristine A. Mulhorn, PhD, MHSA, FGSA, FCPP, professor and department chair, is an instructor in health administration with extensive research background in aging, disability, and functioning and community-based participatory research in urban settings. Cross- national studies of functioning of aging in the community, is an area of focus. With team members from the EU, Canada and South Africa, she proposed revisions to the WHO for the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health). Mulhorn has been a Visiting Scientist at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Geriatrics and Gerontology (2002-2024) and at INSERM in France. Courses include long-term care administration, health policy, disability policy, epidemiology, and biostatistics. She taught in the in the Pennoni Honors College since 2012. A two-time Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Mulhorn visited both Dalian, China (2014) and Douala, Cameroon (2023). She also taught study abroad courses in London, England and Tokyo, Japan, Ikaria, Greece, and most recently, Milan and Cortina, where students observed the Paralympic Games and participated in the Human Performance Lab at Politecnico di Milano in Lecco, Italy. International presentations include those in Europe and East Asia, focusing on aging, disability and scholarship on teaching in those areas. She is the incoming Chair of the Disability Section of the American Public Health Association, the President-elect of the Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society. She mentored 30 students during their master’s theses and also guided three students in the DHSc (Doctor of Health Science) program. She is dedicated to the advancement of health administration and to issues and management skills linked to the demographic reality of our world as key and necessary for all students.
