Using Local Files in LCB vApps

Web Browser Launch Method

Uploading Files

  1. Select the triple pipe icon on the far left (|||) to expand the Horizon menu.
  2. Select the Open File Transfer panel.
    • NOTE: The icon is a rectangle with up and down arrows, 2nd from the left the top of the menu.
  3. Select the Upload tab.
  4. Select Choose Files.
  5. Browse to the location on your computer where the file is located and select it.
  6. Select Open.
  7. Close the Transfer Files window.
  8. Select the triple pipe icon on the far left (|||) to contract the Horizon menu.
  9. From within the vApp, follow the standard menu path to open a file.
  10. Select Documents from the file explorer window.
  11. Select the file you uploaded and select Open.

Downloading Files

  1. Select the triple pipe icon on the far left (|||) to expand the Horizon menu.
  2. Select the Open File Transfer panel.
    • NOTE: The icon is a rectangle with up and down arrows, 2nd from the left the top of the menu.
  3. Select the Download tab.
  4. Click back into the app.
  5. Select Open from the File menu.
  6. Browse to the location of the file you wish to download and select it.
  7. Press Crtl+C (control key and the C key at the same time) on your keyboard. The file will appear in the Transfer Files window.
  8. Select Cancel to close the File Open dialogue box.
  9. In the Transfer Files window, select the download icon to the right of the file you wish to download.

Horizon Client Launch Method

With this method, you may be prompted the first time you use a vApp to allow access to your local files. You must allow this access in order to see the files on your local computer through the vApp. If you were not prompted and cannot see your files or chose to deny access, follow the directions on the Allowing the Horizon Client to Access Local Files knowledge base article to allow Horizon Client access to your files.

IMPORTANT When connected to a vLab app, please be aware that the Local Computer folder in the file explorer points to the remote computer, not your computer. For access to your local files, please follow the directions below.

Opening Files

  1. From within the vApp, follow the standard menu path to open a file.
  2. In the file explorer window, browse to This PC -> {YOUR DREXEL USERNAME} on {YOUR COMPUTER NAME} (Z:).
  3. Browse to the location on your computer where the file is located and select it.
  4. Select Open.

Saving Files

All files saved to the Z: drive are automatically transferred to your local computer. After saving the files, simply browse to the location where you save the files and you will find them there.
