2026 Veterans Day Tribute

Each year, the University commemorates Veterans Day with a special focus on our military-connected students, faculty, professional staff and alumni who have served their country. This year, we are proud to have Captain Christopher J. Ferguson (BS, College of Engineering, 1984; Honorary Degree, 2009) as our featured speaker. Captain Ferguson is principal at the Perinski Group. He is a recently retired Boeing executive who consults in the field of aerospace safety and serves as president of Atlantis Education Services, Inc. Captain Ferguson is a member of multiple non-profit boards and an ASTM International officer. As Boeing’s chief astronaut, he contributed to the development of spacecraft and their crew interface. Prior to this, Captain Ferguson served as a NASA astronaut on three Space Shuttle missions, including command of the final flight (STS-135) in 2011. He served as a Navy Tomcat pilot before his selection to NASA.

Captain Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. He has been recognized with numerous Navy and NASA service awards, including the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross and Spaceflight Medals. He was elected to the Drexel Board of Trustees in 2025.

Drexel University 2026 Veterans Day Events

After the Veterans Day Tribute, Drexel University invites students, faculty, professional staff, alumni and community members to join in commemorating Veterans Day at a Veterans Networking Lunch hosted by Tom Masci, Jr. ’68 from 12-1 p.m., followed by the 6th annual Inclusive Impact Day program, “Follow-on Mission: Career Wellness and Success,” hosted by Drexel’s LeBow College of Business with sessions from 1-4 p.m.
