Motivated by the opportunities afforded by the Drexel Co-op, Pat McGonigal '86, has made a very generous contribution of $840,000 to LeBow College of Business, which will be applied to LCB scholarships.
McGonigal co-founded iHealth Technologies in 2001 as a spin-off company from Vivra Inc. His background includes roles in public accounting, and he served as the vice president of finance for Magellan Specialty Health (Vivra Inc.'s parent company). Pat was also director of financial panning and analysis for Prudential HealthCare's Southeast Region.
Pat talked about the reasons he choose to make this gift. "Given the sacrifices my parents made to educate seven children, it is impossible to imagine myself not taking advantage of every educational opportunity presented to me," he said. "Key among those opportunities was the Drexel Co-op program, which closed the gap for me and made the pursuit of a college degree a reality.
"There are students facing similar challenges, and it is incumbent upon those who've achieved some degree of financial success to assist deserving individuals whose potential is limited only by their financial situations," Pat said. "I'm thrilled to find myself in a position to give back to my alma mater, particularly an institution that has proven to be as vital and dynamic as Drexel has in the 20-plus years since I received my degree."
Pat, a CPA with a BS in finance and accounting, also returned to campus to speak with students, alumni and faculty at a Lunch, Learn and Lead event in February. He spoke about "Negotiating - the Critical Business Skill They Didn't Teach You in College."
If there is one factor that distinguishes a great business school, it is the alumni and other members of its network that come back, give back, and continue their involvement after graduation. Every alumnus can make a difference in the future of LeBow College by making a contribution to the College's Annual Fund. To give, visit www.lebow.drexel.edu/Alumni/giving.php, call 215.895.2612, or send your gift to:
