LeBow College Presents the 2007 Spring Pharmaceutical Leadership Forum

The biopharmaceutical industry has been growing exponentially, creating life-saving and health-improving innovations as well as drawing a fare share of criticism.

Recognizing the emerging trends and imminent changes of this dynamic industry, LeBow College has invited several respected executives to participate in the 2007 Spring Pharmaceutical Leadership Forum from March 8 through May 9 on Drexel's Main Campus.

"Drexel University's LeBow College of Business is excited to host pharmaceutical professionals who can exchange their thoughts, insights and recommendations for the future of the pharmaceutical industry," said Dr. George P. Tsetsekos, dean of LeBow College of Business. "Their work will help further the overall goal of improving the quality of life for patients world-wide."

    P. Roy Vagelos, M.D., Retired Chairman of the Board and CEO of Merck & Co.

    Recently, LeBow welcomed Roy Vagelos, M.D., who currently serves as the chairman of the Board of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Theravance, Inc. Dr. Vagelos is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. Dr. Vagelos has written more than 100 scientific papers. He is the author of The Moral Corporation: Merck Experiences and Medicine, Science and Merck

    Gerianne DiPiano, President, CEO and Company Founder of FemmePharma, Inc.

    LeBow College of Business and the Drexel Women in Business will host Gerianne DiPiano, president, CEO and company founder of FemmePharma, Inc. A former pharmaceutical industry executive with more than 20 years of experience in women's health, DiPiano founded FemmePharma Global Heathcare, Inc., in 1996, to focus on therapeutic areas disproportionately affecting women. DiPiano serves on the advisory council for the MBA in Pharmaceutical Management at LeBow College of Business.

    With more than 13 years of marketing research experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a primary focus is in the biotech and specialty pharma sector, Drexel alumna Andrea Alfonsi '03 helps her clients bring innovative products to market. Prior to joining GfK V2, she led a team of client service and research professionals at a global custom primary marketing research firm where she spent the last nine years. This event is being hosted by the Drexel Women in Business.

    Bernard Poussot, President, COO and Vice Chairman of Wyeth
    6:00 p.m. Matheson Hall, Room 109
    Bernard Poussot was elected president and chief operating officer and to the Wyeth Board of Directors in January 2007, having previously been elected president and vice-chairman of Wyeth in April 2006. He is responsible for overseeing Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Wyeth Consumer Healthcare and Fort Dodge Animal Health. He also serves as chairman of the operations committee of the company.
