LeBow College Also Received Five Awards of Excellence

PHILADELPHIA, Pa (7/7/05) -- Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, one of the Philadelphia region’s premier business schools, has been awarded the APEX 2005 Grand Award in the NonProfit Small Office Category for the College’s 2004 Annual Report: Orchestrating the Lead.

LeBow College of Business also received five Awards of Excellence in the areas of: Corporate/Organization Capability Materials (MBA Career Services Brochure); Most Improved Brochures, Manuals and Reports (Executive MBA Viewbook); Total Publication Program (LeBow College of Business publications); Covers (LEAD MBA Brochure); and Marketing Campaigns (LeBow College of Business Marketing Campaign).

APEX 2005 -- the 17th Annual Awards for Publication Excellence -- is an international competition that recognizes outstanding publications from newsletters and magazines to annual reports, brochures and Web sites.

According to the APEX 2005 judges, "The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness."

LeBow College ’s 2004 Annual Report: Orchestrating the Lead was described as “a tour de force and a most original annual report.” The publication was selected for its exceptional use of visuals, dynamic, bold and interesting spreads with crisp, lively type and imagery “that keeps the viewers viewing.” Copywriting was described as “succinct, crisp and interesting -- definitely top drawer with a lovely use of imagery from classical music, from the ‘overture’ through the ‘movements’ to the ‘final opus’.”

The APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators. It is sponsored by Communications Concepts, Inc., publishers of business communication reports, including Writing That Works, a subscription monthly for professional communicators, and special reports on topics such as Writing for the WEB.

In the Seventeenth Annual APEX Awards, 4,942 entries were received for awards categories including: newsletters; magazines and journals; magapapers and newspapers; annual reports; brochures, manuals and reports; video and electronic publications; Web and intranet sites; campaigns, programs and plans; writing; design and illustration; and special publications.
