Finance: Mergers, Acquisitions, and the Banking Industry

Dr. David Becher specializes in mergers and acquisitions and he has researched the banking industry extensively. His current work examines the effects of the deregulation of the public utility industry and why good merger bids sometimes fail. Dr. Becher is part of the research team at LeBow College's Center for Corporate Governance.

 He has most recently been published in the Journal of Financial Economics for the article "Board Classification and Managerial Entrenchment: Evidence from the Market for Corporate Control." Dr. Becher has also research bank deregulation chronicled in the article "Incentive Compensation for Bank Directors: The Impact of Deregulation," and "Interstate Banking Deregulation and the Changing Nature of Bank Mergers" published in Journal of Business and the Journal of Financial Research, respectively.

 From 1992 to 1995, Dr. Becher worked as a research analyst in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in the risk analysis and bank research division.
