Strategic Management (MGMT 529)

Strategic Management helps students understand the fundamental question: Why do some firms perform better than others? This class will offer the frameworks and tools necessary to assemble and analyze information required to arrive at the answer to the fundamental question. This course is designed to integrate knowledge across the business curriculum and equip you with a holistic view of business management. The frameworks and perspective that you gain from this course will help you in whatever job you currently have or desire to take after graduation; they are especially critical if you are interested in careers associated with general management, consulting, product planning, market research, industry analysis, new venture creation or management, venture capital, or investment banking.

Technology Strategy (MGMT 603)

Technological change has been a persistent force in the conduct and performance of contemporary organizations. This course will focus on the markets and institutions shaping technology shifts and strategies that firms can employ to address these shifts. Key concepts covered include standards and dominant designs, network effects, technology lockout, modularity and product architecture, platform technologies, complementary products and multi-sided markets. A special topic on recent developments in technology applications will also be discussed.
