2019 Undergraduate Datathon
The Center for Business Analytics will partner with The Chemours Company to offer the 2019 Dragon Datathon for undergraduate students.
What is the Dragon Datathon?
Drexel LeBow’s Dragon Datathon is a high energy, one-day event that brings together teams of undergraduate students to turn data into actionable insight. During the event, student teams tackle analytics challenges using open-source datasets.
In preparation for the datathon, undergraduate students will form teams of 5-7 members. For the duration of the event, students are tasked with turning a business problem into a series of statistical questions, designing a technical approach, and using data analysis and technology skills to develop solutions to solve the problem.
At the conclusion of the event, teams present their insights to a panel of industry and faculty judges, outlining their data-driven insights related to the business problem, the scope of their analysis, technical challenges, overall solutions, implementation plan, and expected impact.
Students use their own laptops and are provided access to a computer lab with software applications. Dr. Murugan Anandarajan, Professor, Decision Sciences and MIS, will serve as the faculty advisor overseeing the challenge.
Meals and refreshments will be provided to participants.
To be eligible to participate, team members must be currently-enrolled undergraduate students proficient in core techniques for business analytics, such as data mining and statistical modeling.
Summary and specifics of the datathon challenge are forthcoming.
To participate in the Datathon, all students must register by Friday, April 5.
