Investor-in-Residence

Drexel students collaborating with one of Baiada's Investors in Residence.

The Charles D. Close School strategically engages successful venture capital and investment professionals to bring real-time financial scaling, institutional investment and portfolio management expertise directly to our students. An Investor-in-Residence (IIR) must demonstrate a proven track record of investment success, strong industry networks and a commitment to educating future founders and investors.

Attributes of an Investor-in-Residence

  • Seasoned Investor with a demonstrated track record in fund management, deal sourcing, and successful exits (e.g., IPOs or acquisitions).
  • Expertise in Startup Investment Strategy, including due diligence, valuation and capital structure.
  • Maintains a Network relevant to students working on startups and interested in careers in venture.

How an Investor-in-Residence Helps Drexel Students

  • Gain Hands-on Exposure to real-time investment strategy, deal flow and portfolio management.
  • Receive Advice on pitch decks, valuation and the critical path to attracting venture capital.
  • Discuss Scaling Challenges focused on achieving product-market fit and positioning a company for growth-stage investment.
