Area Business Leaders Honored by Drexel University's LeBow College of Business Executive MBA Alumn

PHILADELPHIA, PA—Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business Executive MBA Alumni Association presented Jeffrey Coursen, Jason Kaye, and Kathy Kiernan with Drexel Executive MBA (EMBA) Alumni Awards on June 9, 2005 at the Union League of Philadelphia. The recipients were nominated and selected by their peers for the following awards: Service to Community or Service to Profession.

“At LeBow College of Business it is our mission to recognize leaders who can serve as mentors for our current students,” said Dr. George P. Tsetsekos, dean of LeBow College of Business. “These professionals have exemplified leadership and we are proud to honor them with the Executive MBA Alumni Awards.”

Coursen is a 1999 graduate and was selected for his Service to Profession. He is executive vice president and chief operating officer for ATX Communications and is responsible for all day-to-day operations of Commercial and Consumer divisions. Coursen has played a vital role in the company becoming one of the most profitable and quality-driven telecommunications companies in the country. His division represents approximately $250 million in annual revenues, employs more than 900 professionals, and serves 225,000 customers.

Kaye graduated in 2005 and received the award for Service to Community. He is currently vice president of Flagship Resort Development Corporation and works to engineer change in the community. Kaye developed a program “Champions of Youth,” which is a mentorship program for at-risk youth. He serves on numerous boards such as Atlantic City Boys and Girls Club and The United Negro College Fund.

Kiernan, class of 2000, was chosen for Service to Community. She is vice president for business development for Affiliated Power Purchasers International, LLC. In her spare time, Kiernan has served as secretary and vice president of the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity (SCHFH), and will become the organizations next president. She was responsible for securing the largest-ever grant for her affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, which enabled SCHFH to build nine homes in the past three years and another nine in the next 18 months. Kiernan is also a member of the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club and has helped raise scholarship funds for local high school students.

The Drexel Executive MBA Alumni Association is comprised of accomplished alumni who graduated with one of the Executive MBA program’s 10 cohorts. The Drexel Executive MBA at LeBow College of Business is ranked by Financial Times as one of the Top 25 programs in the United States and Top 60 in the World.
